🗑️ Delete Emails Before a Certain Date in Outlook
If your inbox is backed up with old emails you don’t need, use these simple solutions to clear the backlog.
Solution #1: Advanced Filter
In Outlook, click the search box at the top, and click the filter icon. (1)
Enter dates: (2)
The “From” date means all emails will be deleted from this starting point, which can be left blank, or set to any date before the “To” date.
The “To” date means all emails will be deleted before this date.
Click “Search” at the bottom. (3)

❗Note: To view the dates on Mac, click the dropdown next to “Date” and choose “Custom date.”
Keep scrolling down the email list until all emails are visible.
When all emails are visible, click the checkbox next to any email. (1)
Then click the checkbox at the top. (2)
Finally, click “Delete all.” (3)
❗Note: On Mac, click any of the emails, then press ⌘ Command + A to select all emails, and click “Delete” at the top.

Solution #2: Create a Rule
On the Mac desktop version, head to “Tools” at the top and select “Rules.” In the New Outlook (Windows and online), you can access “Rules” from the “Home” tab.
Alternatively, click the gear icon at the top. (1)
Go to “Mail.” (2)
Then select “Rules.” (3)
Click “+ Add new rule.” (4)

Enter a name for the rule, such as “Delete Old Emails.” (1)
Select “Before” under “Add a condition.” (2)
Enter a date to the right; the rule will delete emails before this date. (3)
Select “Delete” under “Add an action.” (4)
Check the box next to “Run rule now.” (5)
Finally, click “Save.” (6)
