🤖 Microsoft Unveils New Azure AI Tools for Secure Generative AI Applications

Microsoft has introduced new tools in Azure AI to enhance the security and reliability of generative AI applications.

In response to emerging challenges such as prompt injection attacks and concerns over content quality, these tools aim to bolster the integrity of AI systems throughout their lifecycle.

What are prompt injection attacks?

Prompt injection involves creating prompts, often during role-play scenarios, that can potentially buy-pass hardcoded guardrails that prevent AI Models from generating inappropriate content.

Key Enhancements:

  1. Prompt Shields: Detect and block prompt injection attacks.

  2. Groundedness Detection: Identify and mitigate “hallucinations” or inaccuracies in AI-generated responses.

  3. Safety System Messages: Guide chatbot behavior to provide accurate responses and avoid sensitive topics, benefiting companies utilizing AI-powered customer service.

  4. Safety Evaluations: Assess AI Models to find vulnerabilities to prompt injections and the potential of generating inappropriate content.

  5. Risk and Safety Monitoring: Identify which inputs, outputs, and users are causing content filters to be activated. This information can be used to develop strategies to reduce risks.

These innovations empower organizations to confidently scale their generative AI applications, fostering responsible innovation and trust in AI technologies.

💡 THIS WEEK’S TOP TIP

Monitoring sign-in locations can help admins detect suspicious activity. To check where users are signing in from, follow these steps:

  1. Sign into entra.microsoft.com as an admin.

  2. Select “Show More” under “Identity” in the left menu.

  3. Select “Monitoring & Health” > “Sign-in logs.”

  4. Scroll across the list of sign-in events to view “location.”

If you notice that a sign-in status is set to “failure” or “interrupted,” click the sign-in event, then select “Launch the sign-in diagnostic.” This will give you a complete explanation of why the sign-in attempt failed.
