✉️ Musk vs Altman: a Battle for the Heart of AI

Tech entrepreneur, Elon Musk, has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft-funded OpenAI, accusing the organization of prioritizing profits over the greater good.

The dispute raises questions about who should have authority over the development of potentially dangerous technologies like artificial intelligence.

While Musk's motives may be questioned due to interests in his own AI company, xAI, his concerns about the responsible development of AI are valid. It's argued that decisions surrounding AI regulation should be left to democratic governments rather than individual tech entrepreneurs.

The lawsuit could potentially weaken OpenAI and benefit Musk's company, but the broader issue at hand is the need for democratic oversight in shaping the future of AI.

📢 What’s Up and Coming for Microsoft 365?

Let’s take a glance at some exciting new features rolling out this month.

Sync Feature For New and Web Versions of Outlook

Outlook users are getting a new button to initiate email sync in the new Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web. The button ensures that all new emails are available to read without having wait or refresh the browser. This functionality will be located in the “View” tab of the Ribbon.

New Forensic Evidence Capability for Insider Risk Management in Microsoft Purview

The forensic evidence capability will be an optional feature in Insider Risk Management, enabling security teams to visualize potential risky actions by users. Forensic evidence will be turned off by default, and creating policies for it would require dual authorization. Customers will be able to decide what triggers this feature and manage the investigation process.

Archive Sites in SharePoint

The feature will enable users to archive inactive sites, thereby saving on storage costs that may occur from exceeding the quota limit.

In-Person Event for New and Web Versions of Outlook

Event organizers will get a new option during event creation in Outlook allowing them to request invitees to attend the event in person.

Calendar Notifications in Microsoft Teams

This update will enable users to manage calendar notifications more effectively by allowing them to triage notifications directly from their Activity Feed. Users will receive notifications for various calendar events, including meeting invites, updates, cancellations, and forwards, particularly if they are the meeting organizer. These notifications will appear as unread in the Activity Feed pane, and users can view the details by clicking on them.

Microsoft To Do in Outlook for Mac

To Do in Outlook is currently available for Windows users only. However, in March, access to the To Do application in Outlook will be extended to Mac users.

🪲 Known Bugs!!

Stop the “Intelligent Work” Popup

if you’ve been seeing the “Intelligent Work” popup, it likely due to an MSI update. To make the popup disappear, follow these steps:

  • Open the MSI Center.

  • Go to the AI Engine feature.

  • Click the gear icon next to "AI Engine: ON."

  • Uncheck the option to "Show the profile switching animation when AI Engine initiates."

You’re Out of Boosts!

Many Copilot users have reported a “You’re out of Boosts” message when generating images in Copiloit. While this is not a bug, there has been some confusion about why this message is appearing.

The message appears because there are limits on how many boosts people can use when generating images in Copilot.

  • Copilot (Free): 15 boosts per day

  • Copilot (Pro): 100 boosts per day
