🔲 New Expanded Gallery in Microsoft Teams

A new feature coming soon to Microsoft Teams will allow users to view more videos in the minimized window view.

Full Story and Our Insights:

Microsoft Teams is introducing an “expanded gallery” feature for minimized meeting windows.

This new feature allows users to minimize the meeting window without losing engagement, as more participant videos, including reactions and raised hands, and your video remains visible.

You can easily return to the full meeting view by using the view switcher or double-clicking the minimized window.

Note: this update is currently available for members of the Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release using the Teams desktop version.

How The Expanded Gallery Works:

  • Default Setting: When the meeting window is minimized, it defaults to showing only the active speaker. To activate the expanded gallery view, click the "Show participant gallery" icon in the view switcher.

  • Presenting Mode: When you're presenting, the meeting window automatically switches to the expanded gallery view. If you prefer to focus on the active presenter, you can select the "Show only active presenter" option.

What you can do:

  • See up to four participants at once.

  • Monitor and lower raised hands.

  • View participant reactions in real time.

  • Mute disruptive participants.

  • Preview your video feed.

  • Receive in-meeting notifications.

  • Easily access audio and video controls.

  • Leave the meeting directly from the call monitor.

Additionally, when screen sharing, the presenter’s meeting window will automatically display the expanded gallery view, showing up to four participants, a preview of the shared content, and the presenter’s video if the camera is active.

🕟 TURN DATA INTO CHARTS IN SECONDS USING AI

If you’re creating a presentation or sharing data with colleagues, you can now leverage the power of AI to create beautiful charts in seconds.

In this example, we’re using ChatGPT-4 to create a bar chart for the richest people on Earth.

We want to use data from a Wiki page, so we’ll copy and paste the data into ChatGPT. However, you can also upload data from various document types, such as Word, Text, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, and CSV.

  • First, open ChatGPT where you can use around 15 free prompts to ChatGPT-4 every 3 hours.

  • To upload data, click the paperclip icon. (1)

  • Select “Upload from computer.” (2)

  • Locate and select the document you want to upload. (1)

  • Click “Open.” (2)

  • Once you’ve pasted or uploaded the data, ask ChatGPT to convert the data into a bar chart and hit Enter on your keyboard.

💡 Tip: to create new lines in the prompt, press Shift + Enter.

  • Here’s the result:

  • You could also ask ChatGPT to create a Pie chart:

  • To save the chart, right-click and select “Save Image As.”
